Whether you’re out and about shopping, travelling or taking a break from it all and enjoying some leisure time during your retirement, here are some of the best discounts for the over 60’s.
National Trust Membership
With over 300 historic buildings across the country, there’s lots to explore with the National Trust. If you’re over 60, there’s some good news because this can be done at a discounted price.
The National Trust offers seniors 25% off the annual membership price. In addition, under 5’s go free – so it’s a great way to get the grandchildren outside to explore the great outdoors. Its also good for getting them interested in historic buildings and parklands.
If you or your partner have mobility issues, the National Trust have a useful access guide on their website which shows if the venue is suitable for people with restricted mobility.
English Heritage Membership
Similarly, English Heritage have over 400 sites to visit across the county and they also offer seniors around 14% off the price of an adult’s annual membership ticket. Kids go free, so there’s always somewhere to take the grandchildren during the holidays.
Senior Cinema Tickets
Many cinemas such as Vue, Odeon and Cineworld all offer films at discounted prices to seniors on specific days. So check your local cinema to see what discounts they offer for over 60’s. Some even offer tea and coffee before each screening!
B&Q Loyalty Card
B&Q offer the over 60’s a Diamond Card which provides money off vouchers and exclusive membership benefits.
Boots Over 60’s Rewards Card
Boots the chemists have an ‘Over 60’s Rewards Card’ that offers more points per pound when shopping than the standard card. Plus discounts on a range of relevant products and services.
Senior Coach Card
National Express offer anyone over the age of 60 a Senior Coach Card and for a small fee the card provides 1/3 off coach fares.
Senior Rail Card
If you’re over 60 you may be eligible to apply for a senior rail card. For a small fee you receive 1/3 off the cost of a rail ticket. Check out your relevant rail website to see what discounts for the over 60’s they offer.
Concessionary Bus Pass
If you’re of pensionable age you may be entitled to a free bus pass which allows free bus travel during off-peak times. Visit your Council’s website to learn more and find out how to apply.
