Retirement Apartments for Sale
We have a variety of 1- & 2-bedroom retirement apartments for sale across the country designed for people who are aged 60 and over.
What types of retirement apartments are there?
There are mainly two types of retirement apartments: Retirement living and Assisted living. Retirement living is aimed at those aged 60 and over and Assisted living is generally for those aged 70 years and over.
Why choose a retirement apartment?
A retirement development and the apartments in them are designed to cater for that particular age group by providing a few extra facilities to make life easier. For example, some developments may include grab rails in the bathroom and rails along the corridors to aid residents as they are walking along. In addition, many retirement developments have camera entry and resident staff.
What’s the difference between a retirement apartment and an ordinary flat?
With a retirement development you are living with like-minded people and you rarely get noisy neighbours. In addition, there is the added benefit of having a communal lounge, garden and laundry room where you can meet and chat to like-minded people when you feel like it but you still have your own front door.
There are many retirement development builders, but the main two are McCarthy & Stone and Churchill Retirement Living.
What does the service charge cover?
The service charge usually differs from development to development, but the charge covers the services of a house manager who is available to help and answer any questions, window cleaning for external windows, buildings insurance, water rates, sewerage rates, garden maintenance, intruder alarm costs, camera door entry system, and the heating of the communal areas so that is all taken care of and there is less maintenance to worry about.
